Chapter 1 Opening Paragraphs

Today is a day for knowing about our influence in the world. Not so much the Hello World, but the world where we see and know what’s going on when we speak the truth to ourselves and to those around us. We know that the people like the truth that we say and know. We know that the truth is more interesting than the lies we sometime hear. We believe that the truth is more fascinating than anything we could dream up like we dream up now in the realm of the internet of things. We started our work today on the build. We started with a device known as the CR385-1.1.0. The year is -422. The photos we captured with this camera capable machine are here in a thousand words and more. The metadata has been transformed with respect to the Roman calendar, else we would speak in a language where the days are numbered from 0.24 to 371.19 and this is per an annum at a time.

I woke up in the #122. Today is January the 22^nd. The year is 2024. We won our battles today. We won the war today. The war between goodness and evilness and as it turns out, evilness is a word that doesn’t trigger spell check or autocorrect in the way that I thought it would when I first typed it. Press on. The year is 1999 and the date is December 31^st. The world is preparing for the Millenium Y2K. The computer programmers and computer scientists and the future web application developers to-be are calm and relaxed. There is an overabundance of caution in the air we breath today and in the days that come after today. Everyone but the experts are thinking about the date and time and year format in the computerized world and how the year 2000 with 3 trailing zeroes might be perceived in machine language. Would the change from ’99 to ’00 cause service disruption at any level? This was the question posed by the tradesmen on the trading floor of the World Trade Center Tower II. Would the trades recorded be recognized as trades on the right date and for the right valuation or not? The shopkeepers and clothes retailers wondered about the payment processing solutions that they had started to grow and love in the way of their handy debit machine terminals. Lightning-fast speeds and the debits and credits kept adding up higher and higher on the ticker tapes. The world was assured that all little i’s had been dotted and all big T’s had been crossed. The second and minute and hour and day and year rolled over from December 31^st, 1999 to January 1^st, 2000 late in the evening. The 31-12-99 rolled over to 01-01-00 later in the day.

The year is 1985. In 1991, the Hepatitis A Virus was reclassified after genomic characterization revealed the need to do so. Fast forward to the year 2000 and then return back again to ‘91. Chapter 19 Paragraph 1

The year is 1967. There is a war going on in Vietnam. The city is Ho Chi Minh, then Saigon. The time of day was 2:43 p.m. local time and the people fighting in the war from the side of the United States of America are drained. They’re hungry and modestly tired and the air drop of rations that was supposed to drop 4 hours and 37 minutes ago never dropped off the packages. They flew overhead and they were surrounded by the air attack dominants from France. There were 8 missiles fired all with titanium-halide tipped ignition sensors that heat-seek and heat-sought. They detonated over the Gulf of East Asia in a place that won’t be named proper. The ration deliverer pilot and crew that were hit were morbidly injured but not mortally wounded. They ejected and landed 891 miles from the drop site. The rations armed with parachute deploy ejected as well and landed 901 miles from the drop site. It was assumed that the global positioning system tracked the ejected rations 10 miles from where the pilot and crew landed down. The pilot and crew wandered for 8 hours and 8 minutes on a hunt for the cache. They walked 26 miles in 2 different directions and in 2 same directions. The order of the walk was 1-2-1-1. They made night camp at night fall. They used the torn and tattered parachutes as cover from the ground and around and over and back to the ground. They drank water from a running stream. The stream was upstream of many Battalionites. They washed themselves in the creek. They washed themselves downstream of their drinking hole. The break of dawn was cast 7 hours and 9 minutes later and they knew they were hooped. They were surrounded by wolves. There were 2 male wolves and there was 1 female wolf. There were 2 kits with them, and the kits were from this year’s litter and from the litter she produced 4 years ago. They were searching for the foodstuffs found in the rations. The wolves were hungry and moderately tired, and they would have preferred tins of shredded meat to the tins of ‘soon shredded meat that were before them. The pilot and crew succumbed to exposure from the elements 4 days later. They had a compass and as it turns out, the net difference between the free-fallen ration and the fallen pilot and crew was not 10 miles after all. The cache was 491 miles away and it was lodged in the treetop canopy made up of juniper and elm and pine and ash trees. The first to find it were the women of Ho Chi Minh City. The women were rice farming and they saw the shimmer and glimmer of reflection off the stream. The cache was double wrapped in a tarp and the tarp was made from woven fabric and the woven fabric was made of strands and the strands were silver colored. They made note of a nearby important landmark. This was the church of saints and all of that and they left a cairn on the front stoop of the church and the cairn pointed to the north and they wrote the number 490 in the dirt on the right side of the cairn. They walked back to the village. They walked 9.7 kilometers. They told the men who were family. They told the men who were fighters. The told the men who were friends. They knew much about foes. They figured the figure was $10,000 U.S. Dollars. They knew the cache was some cash. They set out the following morning and they walked 9.7 kilometers to the stoop of the church, and they walked past the cairn. There was a stable not far from the church and they walked there next. The goat browed the moss. The horses and the goat drank water from the stream. They were led there by the 9. They packed up camp. They walked on. They would never find another cairn on this forward part of their journey. They were trailblazers and no one before them laid mark on the path. They used the stream and the feeder creek and the sun and the moon and the light prevailing wind to keep them on track. As the path wound on, they kept the cache in their sights to the right most of the time.

They walked along together for 4 days in a row. At last, they arrived below the silver of ration dangling 61 feet above their smiling faces They stood below the tree and stared for a moment. Two of the men put cleats on their shoes so the spikes were facing outwards. They used shears and an axe to free the silver wrapped ration from the tangled brush and leaves. The parcel measured 4 feet in height and 3 feet in width and 9 feet in length. The two climbers worked together to gently lower this 91 pound prize to the ground. 39 minutes more. The climbers lowered themselves to the ground easily after that and they untied the ropes, and they packed their bags for heading home. It is now 7:01 p.m. local time. There were 14 tins of Spam, 12 cartons of cigarettes, 2 sewing kits, 1 first aid kit, 2 article-laden magazines, 4 meals ready-to-eat, and $100,000 U.S. Dollars beneath the woven together fabric strands. The steadfast villagers fed the village. They armed themselves, their village, and the 4 villages that neighbored them to the north and the west. They built 2 camouflaged shelter buildings. They covered their munition and weapons and ground-trekking supplies and, importantly, the cold storage room they used for keeping perishable food. They were invisible to the enemy. Twenty nine enemy F-11 fighter planes flew over the village camp in the span of 4 days after they finished the build. Four enemy F-12 fighter jets flew over the village camp in the span of 5 days total from the build’s start. The war ended on July 7^th, 1967 when the dispute ended and this dispute was over the oil fields and the drilling of them and refining of the crude.

As it turns out, many foes use naïve thermal imaging camera technology based on a forward-looking infrared heat signature that is only properly calibrated and only capable of assigning a detection value to temperatures less than 5 degrees Celsius or 49 degrees Fahrenheit. These poorly equipped enemy fighters have little resolve for the resolution. Their F.L.I.R. equipment is insensitive and unspecific and what they seek out are refrigerators and what they sought out was the deeper cold of the freeze. We discovered the universe in the year -421. It was a good year for discovering things and it was a good year for the world to learn about the things they didn’t know they had before. We enjoyed seeing things for the first time, like light and snow and glaciers and penguins in Antarctica, the continent. We decided to make things clearer to see them better and we did this with the light we found at first. We saw the snow fall from the sky from the cumulus nimbus stratus clouds that hung overhead. The wind picked up speed to give a hoar frost to the trees and snails on the ground next to the water’s edge.
